This warm Higher Learning sweatshirt honors the powerful legacy of Peabody Middle School—a pillar of Black excellence in Petersburg, Virginia. Established in 1870, Peabody High School was the first public high school for African Americans in the state, shaping generations of leaders, educators, and change-makers. Known simply as “Peabody” by its alumni, the Peabody-Williams Complex served the community as both a high school and later a middle school from 1920 to 2017.
